1997 chevrolet 2500 transmission

I have a 1997 chevrolet 2500 with a 5.7 vortec in it and the 4L80E transmission. Truck has done me well and I hate to get rid of it. No notes! The transmission shifts well but sometimes it does not go into overdrive. Or when it is in overdrive it drops out of it when it is not supposed to. I had a transmission shop look it over but they said that it could be a sensor or worn clutches. I dont believe that and wanted to see what any experts on here might add. Do you think replacing the transmission would do any good? Is it electrical? Or is it something mechanical? any input would be greatly appreciated....thanks

It could very well be a electrical problem, and if it is then a pretty cheap fix.The solenoids will stick on them if they been run to hot.I have had a few gm trannys that the torque converter be goin bad and feels like trans, also cheap fix.But if its not something that simple I highly recommend buying a goodwrench trans and u will have alot longer warranty than a rebuild shop.
