Uniform Cost

How are you guys fronting the cost of company work shirts and gear like sweatshirts? Are you making your employees pay after 6 shirts or something? Are you splitting the cost? Do you just give them away? Just curious as to what other people are doing.

I only have a few part time helpers but I buy their shirts because I personally don't believe they should have to pay for them. I would be interested to hear what some of the larger companies do.

I pay for all my guys shirts. Why would you expect them to wear a uniform and have to pay for it?

I would also reccomend something nicer than a tshirt. I have actually had several customers say something about how nice my guys look because eyewear polos and button ups.

Almost any employer, (i.e. any restaurant, large retailer) requires you to dress to a certain standard for the job. Most of them will require their employee to pay for the clothing and withhold it from their first paycheck.

I think this is fair.

Always dress your employees from head to toe in professionalism. I am going to put mine in suits and ties to display segregation from other companies and display true professionalism.

Cintas uniforms. $11 per week includes 5 sets of shirts, pants, and 1 jacket always clean. 5 on hand, 5 at the cleaners, and 1 on your body. Well worth it in my opinion. No worries about getting clothes dirty. They don't have to do laundry. And they always look good.
