Whats your ideal place of business?
I figure there are 2 options-
1. Own a piece of land say 2 acres and up where you can have your home and a separate Pole Barn to run your business out of. I think you could have a few employees work out of here but no more than that. 2. Commercial / Industrial property with a building and parking where you could operate out of and have as many employees as you want. What do you guys think? |

Solo I would rather have shop on my property, which I do now. My brother helps me on occasion but he usually meets me at the job.
If I had employees I would have shop off site from my house. I would not want employees hanging around by my house. My buddy ran a tree business from his house and it was a nightmare to say the least. Employees in and out all day, trucks and trailers everywhere, debris all over. Ect....... I guess it would come down to several factors.
Where do you realistically see your business in 5-10 years as fars as business growth, number of employees, equipment, inventory, etc.? What type of real estate you and your wife are into? Maybe you would like to live in a historic house downtown when you can afford it or out in the country with lots of land. Zoning rules Cost |

Commercial property is ideal no matter if you are solo or have employees IMHO.
