compost for fertilizer

Has anyone out there tried using compost from livestock animals as a fertilizer? If so, were the results satisfying? There is talk that some of these companies using the pesticides are closing down because the liability is too much to carry due to the possible run off issue. If anyone has heard anything or has any input please put in your two cents

Yes!!

A whole lot of people all across the country, particularly around dairy and horse farms. True, most of that gets spread/tilled into local fields.

Wallace Farms down in Concord - Charlotte, NC sells both bulk and bagged. At least a while ago they were selling in Home Depot down there. (They were a dairy farm, sold out in late 1990's, land is now a golf course/home developements, business still exists. ) Its use would be more of a soil amendment, not so much of a thinly spread fert.
