My dad or my friend who helps me, his dad help us out. We also mow in my neighbor hood, are biggest in my neighbor hood is mowing 30 un-constructed house lots. Should I be concerned on any thing or does any one have advice to help me. Id love to make a career and love landscaping but I'm just unsure of what my possibilities are. I actually love to work, Im very mature but Im having trouble figuring this out. GO FIGURE!

One question, one suggestion. What do your mom and do for a living?.. Suggestion, work for someone else for 2 years and get to know the business form the inside first.

Just work and figure it out. No one knows your situation like you do. Get the accounts, and get it going, show up, do a good job, and look for ways to grow, improve and expand. I think you'll do great because people like to hire youngsters. You have a chance to get a large number of accounts. You can do it.

Ok, he's 14 so that probably isn't going to happen since their are laws regarding age and the work force. (Unless you have a family member in the same business.)

WishforScagWildcat- I think its great that you are working for yourself at 14! Earning some extra money never hurt anyone! My brother did this too when he was old enough and strong enough to push lawn mowers, he was right around your age!

pseudosun said it best!

I think you are probably doing a great job already! The more you mow the more you will understand this business!

My advice is keep up the good work and when you are 16 or 17 then you can start thinking about the business-side details and maybe you can start expanding if you wanted too. Good luck!

Yea I would work for some one else but I don't Know anyone really. My mom is a teacher and my dad is a regional sales rep. I also have a lot of equipment and I don't really want it to sit. Ive got Exmark metro 36" w/15 hp kawi, a Lawn boy 21in., Echo 225 pas w/edger, echo srm 225, Echo pb 500t, fert spreader, pouln pro chainsaw. Then my friend from school brings his 7x14 open trailer, John Deere 737 ztrak 23 hp kawi w/60" deck, a Echo pb 500t, and sthil fs90r to the table.(all his dads gear, huge property). My dad is geting an enclosed 7x16 w/ 2ft v nose for work which I will have access to. Ive got gear I just really NEED business knowledge!!!!!
