I had an 05 5.4 F 250. That was the 1st year with the 3valve engine and the same trans as the Diesel. This truck would be plenty strong to tow most anything. I think mine was rated at 9k and my fuel economy was better than my buddy's 08 Powerstroke towing identical 26' cargo trailers. It looks like a great buy, good luck with the sale.

We towed several different trailers from open lawn trailers to dump trailers to gooseneck. Truck is setup for gooseneck ball. It has the 6spd transmission which I prefer over the 5spd in my 2010 F250. Truck also had new ford oem locking hubs installed a month ago under warranty as they were getting hard to turn when cold.
