Toro Grandstand purchase???

Im in the market to buy a new mower. I looked at a Toro Grandstand with a 40" turbo force deck. The dealer gave me a great price ($5600) since its a demo with 75 hours. I'm kinda worried because I haven't heard many good things about the "40 decks. Any experiences with them? NOT SURE WHAT TO DO!

I heard something about the 40" and 3 blades clogging and building up the deck faster, but just talk, I have no expereince with this machine, however I always saw to get the biggest engine on any mower that you can, you never hear anyone saw that their's has too much power.

I don't know about the 40" deck but I went to 4 different dealers and they all told me the same and that was to buy the Grandstand 36" They all told me I would see any reduction in productivity between the two and it was a better machine than the 40".
The 40"and 36" run the same motor and the nice thing about the 36" is you don't have any issues with gated yards. I can tell you I've been super happy with the 36" and I've put 180hrs on it since August.

I bought the 40" deck new in 2012. Was so displeased with the amount of clumping under the deck. After several complaints to toro, I was able to trade to the 48". ALL PROBLEMS SOLVED!!!! Not sure what you are cutting, but I would demo before making the purchase.

Just curious:
What's your rationale for the larger deck making the difference? Same blade type in both?

Not real sure why all the clumping. Only thing I can think of is the extra space under the deck to move the discharge across and out from underneath.

We've got a 40" and a 52" GS the 40" is our work horse, it has a full mulch kit with gators, no clumping, the three blade design or the 40" deck is not the reason for the clumping to my knowledge all the GS's have three blades. We run Gators on both mowers, if you get into tall wet grass you'll clump no matter what mower you use, you have to know when to double cut. I'm sold on the stander style mowers even more so setup with gators and full mulch kits. One thing I read one guy did was go under the deck and grind down as many of the through bolts as possible, which makes sense to me. We haven't did that but haven't really found it necessary since going to gator blades.
