Looking for help

I have landed my first paver job since I have went on my own and I have a question. The job is helping a friend and there is no pay involved besides beer I am doing it to learn. The question is about the base, I think it should be DGB and he says it should be #57 stone. What do you guys as pros use? I am confident we can do the job as we both have many years experience finishing concrete and understand fall and grade and understand the basics of how to do this. Any other tips you want to throw in is greatly appreaciated.

For a typical paver patio or walkway - do not use 3/4".

Pavers are a whole different world than pouring slabs.
