mower tires

i have noticed a lot of mowers around my area with more aggressive tires then the standard turf tires. i was wondering if there were any advantages to the more aggressive tirers and if they tear up the turf more. what are other peoples opinions about these tires?

I have a set of more aggressive tires on one of my Walker Super b and it seems to not tear the turf as the one with the regular turf tires. I believe this is because they don't pack up with grass and and loose traction like a turf tire does. They are better for hill traction too. You just have to carefull not to go around tree rings to quick.
