Hey everyone,

Lookin to buy a 36" mower next year. It will be used for smaller areas on large commercial properties. The lawns i will cut with this mower are a little rough. What i prefer is a mower that will hive a nice quality of cut at a decent speed. With the weather over here, it should also give a nice cut on a wet lawn, since it can easily rain 3 weeks without one dry day over here. Also should be able to bag lawns. Brands that are available over here are toro, ferris and hustler. We have a ferris ztr that i really like. I also have experience with a ferris evolution, but i think that's an impossible machine to work on. So in this case, which one would you guys chose?

With it raining like that, I would say a hydro walk behind. It would be much lighter that a stander. You can get a sulky for it to speed up production.

P.S. I would love for it to rain rain rain right now. I hate droughts...

I have a Hustler TrimStar 36". Very maneuverable and provides a nice cut. I don't have the bagger but one is available. I do use a sulke. The model I use is the Velke X2.

You have a good point when you say that a walkbehind would be better. About the hustler trimstar, great review. Only problem is they are only sold with a 15hp engine with a recoil start. Don't know if 15hp is enough for longer/wet grass?

I never had a problem with mine. I'm not sure on the technical aspect but the ratio of power to cut is the close to same on the 36 with the 15 (.416) as on the 54 with the 23 (.425)

As for the recoil, I like it. Less weight and less moving parts to worry about. Also cheaper to fix if the recoil spring or the pull rope breaks as opposed to replacing a battery or a starter. JMO

And the deck on the hustler? Is there a lot of grass build up when mowing in wet grass? And if anyone has experience with the factory bagger, is it any good? I sure would like an accelerator bagger but no dealers around here.

Looks like the hydrocut is out of the competion. Only 32" and a lower ground speed. And i guess two hydros is always better than a single hydro?Would the comfort control be able to compete with the trimstar?

I have the Ferris 48 comfort controll DD ... better operation than hustler and even the Hydrocut.
Go with the 36 comfort controll DD..
The comfort controll dd has really good handling, and cuts and discharges the clippings very well.. Personally its stronger than the other machines. Standers dont have great traction on hills and slide around in wet weather. with the double hydro.. you'll be impressed with the ferris.
