Purchasing used Isuzu NPR. Any advice before inspection

Hey guys. I'm going to look at an Isuzu NPR tomorrow. Details below.

2000
Diesel
176" wheelbase
20' Supreme box
250k miles
Recent new tires and brakes
Original owner with all maintenance records.

It was used to deliver furniture. Appears to be in really good shape from the pictures. He bought a 99, and 2 2000s new. Used them, serviced them, etc. Just bought 3 2013s. He said they're in great shape, run excellent, etc. Just wondering what to look for when we go check it out. Any particular signs of potential problems? I assume a fluid check is in order obviously.

Make sure they are stone cold when you start them. Excessive smoke and rattling are red flags. Warm engines don't always give a total picture of engine health. Your kind of on the upper side with the mileage. I would really like to do compression check, but its a PITA on diesels.

Upper side even w/ being a diesel? So it's not like a Ford 7.3 that goes 500k miles? Say the engine blew. What would you be looking at for a new motor? I've seen many of these in the 175-200k miles range. Haven't seen alot in the 300k mile range. Do they fall apart before that or are they just being used and not for sale?

After 250 they seem to be a crapshoot. There will always be a couple that make 500k, but at what cost. They can be money pits. Injectors, pumps, turbos are not going to go 250k. Rebuilds start at 6k. If you have your heart set on a box look at Penske used. They are lower in miles, great maint records. You might have to make a little road trip to get one. I'm going this route soon for a slightly different field and have looked at a couple dozen NPR that just didn't seem to be worth the money. Guys that buy new tend to keep them until they reach that 200 to 250 range.

Surprised noone has asked about price. Even for $5k you wouldn't take a chance? Compared to $10-$15k for 150k miles? Worst case the engine tanks. If I could have a fresh motor for $6k, I'd be $11k for a truck in good shape and new motor. Not trying to argue because after all I am the one looking for advice. Just trying to bounce some ideas off of you guys and see if my thought process is reasonable.

I own five NPR's and with 250/k miles on it not sure i would risk $5/k on one. I paid $9/k for an '03 last year and blew engine a few months later. Replacement used engine by the time it was all done was $9/k.
