http://www.lowes.com/pd_220465-15476...d=10151&rpp=32 what do these units such as rack em, gridiron and greentouch offer or how are the superior that they cost a couple hundred??? |

Just looking at the Lowe's trimmer rack I can tell the biggest difference would be quality of construction. Lighter weight, simple design, and less metal all around. Notice in the Lowes pic, all gas caps are facing down. Wouldn't be my preference.

as for the construction of them. I've seen most of these trimmer guards, such as gridiron, green touch, rack em, etc and I don't see them being worth $200+ compared to the $75 I spent at lowes. I've had my lowes racks for 4 years now and there isn't a thing wrong with them. so are you saying the more expensive ones are lighter weight, simple design and less metal all around, or the lowes ones are? cause I certainly don't want some heavy complex designed rack, that's for sure. and if the more expensive ones are "less" then it's a no brainer, you don't pay more for less, at least I don't. |

I would expect the Greentouch racks to be heavier.
It's all preference and the individual.

I use TrimmerTraps. They are relatively inexpensive for a professional trimmer rack. One simple move and you can remove or replace a trimmer. One lock locks all of the trimmers up. They secure very solidly to most open trailers. They don't have a history of snapping trimmer heads off or of the entire rack breaking off of a trailer.

I use greentouch for trimmers and trimmertrap for blowers and hedge trimmers.

I use the racks from Northern Tool. Just orderd the enclosed trailer 3piece trimmer rack, water cooler holder and trimmer line holder. Total was $210.

I'll vouch for the Lowes trimmer rack. I mean for $75 it really is a good deal. I stuffed some foam pads in there to keep the trimmers from moving around on me. It works really well. I swapped out the bolts that came with it for some better ones and its very sturdy. A trimmer rack is a trimmer rack if you ask me. Why waste money on expensive ones?

that's sort of how I feel. the $200+ racks don't seem superior in any way or offer anything the cheap ones can't.
