MN DOT Intrastate/Interstate

I did some searches on here but it didn't answer my question. For those in MN or in WI near the MN border, and whether you travel across or not, for your DOT #'s are you set up for intrastate or interstate? I don't have any plans to be working in WI but you never know if maybe a job comes along in WI and I want to know if it's worth it to be reg'd as interstate. Are there any differences between intra & inter as far as insurance or registration costs or anything like that?
