Larger size lawn prices (how to price)
Okay so I got a 10 per 1000 sq ft price for lawns in hoa s etc. but how do you price larger ones?
I got 2 to do at 50 and 55k. What sort of discounts do you give. How do you calculate it for those bigger ones. Thanks!! Posted via Mobile Device |

I don't know what your market will bear, but maybe a reduced rate/1000 at some point, say over 10,000.

I only give breaks for multi acre lawns that are open fields. Otherwise, things are the same be it 2-50,000. Sure, you windshield time might be cut down a little, however you materials and overhead stays the same. I also keep in mind that in something like an HOA it is just like having to go from house to house and doing one lawn at a time. Not like you can just drive past it on the road and apply from a cannon.

Just remembering the 11/2 acre lawn I was fixing last year. No way to drive the truck over it. Had to unroll 300 ft of hose, and move the truck at least 8 times. Good thing it was cold and windy most of last year. Seemed like it was below 80 all year.

Greendoctor is right. You save a few dollars by not driving to different sites. Otherwise each sq foot costs the same in fert and herbicide cost. Same labor per thousand sqft--say you cover 1000 sqft per minute. That is 60,000 sqft per hour. Refilling the spreader 6 times of course. You have a slight savings in billing costs and stamps. But there is always a risk of profit-killing callbacks, and risk of slow or not pay.

That is why there is no special discount. Risk of callbacks. Callbacks are avoided by putting down full rates of products. It is one thing to go a little light on 2,000 sq ft. Not much lost if things do not work out the first time. It is another matter when talking about 20,000 or multi acre jobs. I price high enough to even cover myself in case of a callback. "there's a strip or patch of weeds not dead yet".
