Definately a good idea. Tell her that you have no idea who the guy was, you showed up as promised and this rude guy ordered you to leave. You made arrangements with her so you need to hear it from her. If you had a written contract follow up in writing.

My opinion on this whole situation is that if you run a business, in this case daycare which involves something as sensitive as kids, it's not a good idea for word to get around the community that you employ somebody like that.

I think there exist ways to handle things but I doubt I could have pulled off one much better and I think you did the best you could but... And I would do this for more than one reason, I am also with the plan of calling the lady and asking her what the deal was, might even let a piece of that 5:30a conversation slip (or not) but I'm also the kind...I'm just that kind of guy, I give the best I could, not saying it's the best anyone could do I'm just saying it's the best I could do at the time, now I EXPECT if someone wants to cancel service, to tell me so, and preferrably to my face but a nice clear message would have sufficed.

I know some people, they just don't know how to say it.
But this type of rude approach doesn't work with me.

If you had it in the contract to start auto trigger at 2", I would have her sign that she is no longer under contract for auto trigger and only when services are requested. And I would of started the snow removal until the person who singed the contract came out told me not to do so. Get it in writing...

1) I am not going to likely call her. All I have is her home/daycare ph # and murph's law says that that rude dude will pick up the phone. Can't risk that I don't want to hear his voice/see his face again. I have the feeling that this guy IS a boyfriend (he is not an employee), so she is going to side with him against me any day.

2) This customer is DONE with file marked NEVER SERVICE AGAIN LAWN or SNOW. All I had with her is a verbal anyway, both ways, so neither one of us owes the other one jack. I would take her apology though, but its not coming so oh well.

Im with ya. Dont even sweat it. I steer clear of those types of people. Not worth your time. There are better people to get as clients.

There are some guys on plowsite that are from Rochester, maybe inform one of them you'll buy them a beer to plow in her driveway if yall get a decent sized storm down there.

I think you handles it the right way. hope you did invoice for the visit or at least a fuel charge for coming out without being called.

I'd be sure to turn them over to collection when they don't pay it either.

I recently had an incident similar to this, lil different situation but close to this, I wasn't so nice though, I tried as hard as I could to keep my cool but it just wasn't happening that day. One thing I won't put up with is someone swearing at me while I'm working.I didn't swear back but he defintley knew I was pissed and he was oh so close to getting laid out.
