Trencher speed.

How long roughly does it take to trench a 100 linear feet with a trencher(ditch witch or bobcat)?
Thanks in advance. I have never used a trencher but will need one for an upcoming job and trying to figure time.

Depends on depth, straight or curved, access etc but i dont see why you couldnt get it done in an hour if its not a nightmare job.

Depth is about 7 or 8 inches, and its straight for the most part. Its for an exterior drainage and really its about 360 feet.

If it was 100 ft I would say use a pick axe (the tool so nice they named it twice) and shovel because by the time you pick up a rental trencher drive it to the job unload trench and reload drive it back unload and do the paperwork and get back to the job you would have it dug by hand unless its some kind of hard pan clay root infested area. But 360 ft I would get a ditch witch and that should only take an hour or less. Also keep in mind if you lay 360 ft of four inch drain pipe you will have a lot of dirt left over after you back fill. You will have to do something with it and that will take some time as well.
