The dealer I was talking to said that the lowest engine option is about $12,000 and that Exmark's goal is to push the S series a lot.

I don't quite understand either. Some people know what they want to say, but doesn't come out clear when typed.

My guess would be the base model x series is $12k. His dealer feels thats to much so they will push the cheaper s series?

Cost means nothing! I buy the best tool for the job. It's usually the top of the line in everything. From my JD F-935, DC Flatlander, LC'd Lazer, and EFI'd Hustler....Every one was the Flagship of the model line with the best engine. If you buy the best, your never left wishing for more.
Plus, look at all the money we'd save on throttle cables!

No trust me I didn't get it either, I was thinking the same thing in my head(wth) when he said that to me. I was like why would they get this whole RED thing going if they didn't want to sell more of the X series? Only thing I could come up with was that the dealers want to push the s series more because the price difference is quit big because he was saying that the price of the X series is so much its making it untouchable for most. Sorry for not stating my full thoughts in the first one haha

Your dealer is going to push what he has the most of in stock.
Your dealer is also going to push whatever he feels his customers would want. You also have dealers that never sold an EFI unit....ever. Just because Jim-Bob the mechanic doesn't want to learn all that hocus-pocus modern computer stuff. I have a great dealer. Very knowledgeable. However, I don't go to him to ask whats new or what he thinks I want. Yes, this mower is going to be the flagship. It's going to come at a premium. But for the first time, this is a mower that will actually save large operators money. So it's now a question of if these large fleet operators realize this or not. Most just look for the lowest price, not cost of ownership.

Dealers not only push what they have the most of (so they don't get stuck with it), but also the products they make the most profit off.

Yea i see what your saying but i talked to multiple dealers and they both said the same thing, now don't get me wrong when the dealer has something they want to sell they will push it. But the both pretty much said the pricing is getting ridiculous. Initially when most walk in and they give you a price of 14,000+ for a machine the buyer see's red flags all over with out even looking into why its that much. I agree this is very innovative system and and if the fuel savings and over cost of ownership is down yea could very well be a great purchase. Now not everybody looks into things like that as much as others and that's why I don't think the X series will sell as much as it should. Overall I do agree with you though.

Fuel injection is usually a $200-$300 upgrade. I know Exmark has a few more goodies but its price is approaching diesel pricing. Exmark is the most expensive in my area.
