New Splitter Build

Here is the splitter I've been working on. Some specs:
67# Beam
5" boreX 30" stroke cylinder with 2.5" rod
22gpm 2 stage pump
Honda Gx 390 13hp (used)
on an old boat trailer chassis.

Hope to have it done in a couple weeks.

Next step is to take it in for sandblasting and powdercoat.

Looking good. How big is the Hydrolic tank going to be? I have heard if its to small then the oil will heat up and take the seals out of your hydrolics, and you loose power quickly. Its looking great so far. Are you going to mount a truck crane on it for larger material? It sounds like you have enough hydrolics to run it. Great job.

I ordered a 19.5 gal tank from northern tool. When i got it it was only 14.5 gal but i think itll work. There are many guys with 5 or 6 gallon tanks
It has a hydraulic log lift not pictured. More to come.

Cool. I think 14 will do it. Your hydrolics should a last a long time. Again Nice job. Looks very professional so far.

Ok Amie, wheres the Like button. :D Whens the first splitting party. That thing looks like it will split wood like a dream. Nice pics.

Probably be splitting shortly after Christmas. The bad news is, with this bad mofo- I might be done with my pile of wood in less than a day. Thanks for the kind comments.

:clapping:I think you're right Squirrel we should have a like button. I guess we'll have to make do with smileys for now. That does look like one mean splitter. How did you come up with the design? Did you follow a specific manufacturer or pick things you liked about a bunch of different ones?

It is loosely based off the timberwolf or built rite splitters, but i kinda just looked at the pictures and made it work with the parts that i wanted and were available. The splitting head is my design, kinda based on a timberwolf tw7 but heavily modified. The head is untested and may not work at all. We'll hav to see.

Since both of those manufacturers are based out of VT I have to say you have a pretty good chance at this machine coming out sturdy and reliable.
