10 year old dixie
Hi
I have 10 year old dixie chopper that I replaced the engine on it not to long ago. Upon inspection for the up coming season it appears one or both of the hydraulic pumps may be leaking. My question is after 10 years of commercial service are the pumps worth repairing or is it better to spend the cash and just replace them with new? any and all feedback welcome thanks |

So do the wheelmotors....Im guessing...
Put a magnet in the hydrotank and check for metal shavings...if not too much..reseal the pumps and ride a few more years... Its cheaper to buy another mower than to replace all the parts...

Thanks
I will do the magnet test and pass along what I find out. Took a few pics of the leaking cuz everybody loves the pictures ;-) and I thought it may have been the gear box that was leaking but from the photos it look as if it's running down the side of the gearbox which leads me to believe the input seal could be leaking past the o rings where it attaches the the gear box |

Looks like a leaky gearbox. I've had to replace 2 myself in the past.

I'm gonna separate the pumps from the gear box today
Leave all the hoses attached and try and narrow down just what is leaking . Thanks |

Get a roll of shop towels and wipe down everything...watch for the leaks..
Don't clean it with water..you'll have twice the cleanup...time. to get dirty...

Gear box is source of some leaking from sides(output shaft seems ok) getting gaskets and will put back together and see what happens
