What have you guys found works best as a call to action or special offer on post cards.

Xx% off 1st month mowing?---- thinking 25% assuming weekly service
30% off next application? -- we've completed round 1 already
Free mosquito treatment with season program. ---- maybe free one is last app of season or get free app with year prepayment would be safe.

I too am interested in this. I haven't had much luck with post cards thus far.

I send out about 100 cards every spring offering a free mow restricting it to a time that is convenient for me usually 20% percent respond and and of those 20 8-12 keep my service, it works great for me I have added well over 50 customers in the last 4 years just dont over do it, you dont want to spend 2 weeks mowing for free thats why I only do 100 at a time

WOW, that's a GREAT return. Most research I have done shows about a 1 to 2 % return on post cards/door hangers/ flyers...

Im getting ready to launch something ridiculous and very aggressive.

50% March Madness

20% off mow/plow annual agreement (with 3 year)
10% mulch install
10% aeration with overseed
5% leaf removal
5% fert

Taking a $2400 annual normal customer basically secures them for 3 years, and if you own your aerator, the grass seed is really the only expense for the same annual service price. Given 15k or under turf.

How do you go about sending them out? Do you go through your post office or deliver them yourself in mailboxes in areas you would like to do?

IIRC, placing flyers in mailboxes is not allowed. There are a few options for mailing them, EDDM has been a hot topic here recently, as has direct mailing. If you don't want to pay postage, you can stick flyers on doors, or do door hangers.

Personally, I just sent 2500 6.5x8" postcards out via EDDM yesterday morning. They should be delivered today. I didnt offer any discounts, but my call to action was "call now, weekly service spots are filling fast".

If youre going to do it for mowing, then you don't have much time to think about it. If you wait until the grass is growing, your too late. You want to hit people with when they first start thinking about spring. Around here, it will be this weekend. Sunny, and 60. My cards are in their mailboxes today.
