Trailer brakes help,but you will still get the yahoo that pulls out in front of you. Then you can smell the brakes, the rotor is glazed and it doesn't feel the same again.

brakes pads... all around.

600 bucks is alot of coin to lay out.
The other thing you can consider is brake upgrade from bear brakes or ssbs both make upgrades that would give you larger thicker rotors , 4 or 6 piston calipers they aren't just for big wheels.
