Looking great! I built my home last year. One of the most stressful things I have ever done but totally worth it.

Thanks, you telling me about stress. I hope I never have to build another one. We want to get it right the first time.

How deep are the footings for that slab? I have never seen a foundation poured like that. What are the winters like where you are?

That's pretty common. That looks like the slabs poured in south Alabama.

I guess there isn't much frost heave to worry about down there. Do any homes have basements? I imagine it saves quite a bit of $ not having to put in 4' deep footings for even a slab foundation (that's how it is done here)

I can't think of any basements when I was working in construction. Monolithic slabs were the most common. There is no frost line. No blowing out irrigation.

There a few basements around but not many. My wife kind of wanted one just for tornados.
