if anybody is hearing the patented kohler tick, i would strongly suggest using kohler 10w30 oil, it is anti foaming and will help quiet the lifters.

If you still get the persistant noise that comes and goes,after trying the different oil, install, or have your dealer install kit # 24 755 135-S. This should cure the problem.
