review of the fs 90 r

I just got one this morning.

the pros:
-pretty easy to start
-not that heavy
-motor has a decent amount of power for maintained grass trimming.
-good value at msrp $319. I was in the dealership today and I just couldn't resist.
-runs really good at high rpm
-very fuel efficient. I ran it for almost an hour today and it still has a little gas in it.
-that new exhaust smell is really addicting! lol don't know why.

the cons:
-it accelerates kind of slow.
-it is underpowered for tall grass. it labors the engine, which is not what I expected. I thought it was going to be night and day compared to my fs 70, but its really not all that different, power-wise. I do expect it to produce more power once I run about 10 gas tanks, though.
-you cant really run it at low rpms, which is important because I mow some mobile homes, and im afraid it will tear the skirting to pieces. might have to break out the 70 for those.

In all, I think its a decent trimmer for the money, but I will probably getting a bigger one in the future.

You just need a few hours on yours. Most of us who have one think they cut great down at low R's. They just don't feather up and down as well as a 2 stroke. If yours seems underpowered at all, it either needs time as already stated, or have it checked. Mine has more power than I would have expected from that size engine by a wide margin. I do have a FS250R for the really bad stuff.
