GG & PP, how far away are you all from an ethanol-free filling station? Any nearby suburbs on this site link below?

Are you saying those MTD trimmers are top shelf pro trimmers?

I am a huge fan of Seafoam. I also not like to let me equipment set for any amount of time with fuel in them. I drain it out and put it in a pickup or whatever else needs gas. It is about the only additive I ever use.

Fogging, that is good idea. It seems it is something that isn't used much anymore. Frankly, it should be.

The red gel like goo had nothing to do with Stabil. When gasoline is allowed to sit for extended periods, it starts to evaporate. When it evaporates it leaves a red/golden colored varnish behind. If you fill the tank of your mower and don't turn the fuel valve off, then as the fuel evaporates from the carb it is replaced with more fuel from the tank. After a while of this happening, you end up with a nasty goo in the carb.

Stabil's job is to keep the fuel from turning sour for a brief time. It will not stop the fuel from evaporating. Even open containers of Stabil have a shelf life of about 24 months after the seal has been broken.
