Earthquake Resistant Pipe for LA

I really wish this article wasn't locked, i think you guy's would get a big kick out of it. The main gist of this article is that this ductile iron pipe is only made in Japan and it is super expensive - $900,000 for 6500 ft. Now i assume that this is the installed price, but still. I know that southern California has a major earthquake problem and this might be a good idea but a 4 lane highway cost's about 1 million a mile, something isn't right here.

Roads might cost more nowadays, but who cares. If you want a non-brittle pipe to carry water, we already got polyethylene tubing.
