Ditch Witch Zahn 300 with tracks
I am looking into purchasing a new pipe puller. I have used the 410 and the 255 on past projects. 410 was great for power but to big in small lawns and the 255 I think is to under powered. I have my eye on a DW 300 Zahn with the tracks option. Has anyone used one of these and how do they work? Most projects we are only going 12" deep with a 1" poly pipe with a few commercial projects 15" deep. Will this machine handle this or am I better off looking at something else. Thanks

I use a Vermeer LM25 vibratory plow, and it has plenty of power for pulling 15+ inches deep. I would recommend it and think it would work great for you. Im supprised the 255sx would not pull in 12" for you. What kind of soil are you pulling through.

Its mostly hard packed clay with about 1" of black dirt on it in new development areas. Alot of fun to dig in.
The 255 just sits and hops most of the time. The lm 25 has worked well for me too. That is my next choice. |

Why would you pull commercial at a different depth than residential ? 8 to 12 inches is where we pull regardless

We have a track remote control stump grinder with the same basic tracks as the zahan..
Not impressed at all..rips up grass reguardless...maybe the zahan is different but track machines IMHO suck on established turf. Green Monster like using "turf pads" not sure what those are but look into it.. I enjoy the 410 on all established lawns and new construction although sometimes it gets stuck in the woods or on the hills... good luck...but I would stick with the 410 |

B30 without the trencher and the skinny tires to go thru the gates , then a B30b with the trencher with wide tires for the big areas , and a L2 line ward for the steep hills , leave the boring rods at home , break out the 2 in missile . There is no 1 machine to do it all . |
