Which extended length hedge trimmer???

I have a Stihl hedge trimmer that articulates 90 degrees and it has a stipped gear. My dealer said I would be better off to buy a new attachment price wise. My question is this, is the straight hedge trimmer attachment any stronger than the articulating one or not. Is the bending action the weak link in these units. I see alot of people have problems with these on this site.

The straight ones might be stronger but not as productive

I have one with the articulated head and it comes in handy all the time! It also holds up very well i've used it on some jobs for 5-7 hours at a time and it doesn't miss a beat.
