First day of the mowing season for me

11 yards on tap for today. I expect a few double cuts, unfortunately. The grass really shot up over the past few days. Typical for this time of year, though.

Hopefully the boys in the northern areas can get to cutting shortly. I'm sure they have a few pounds to lose like I do as well.

We're starting today also in Central IL.

The bad part is that we have a front that is stalling out just south of us and hopefully we can get through without any problems.

Luckily we only do two days worth of mowing, the rest of the week is landscaping. So, even though they are calling for rain everyday this week, we should get it done.

The grass took off last week for us also.

I cut half this past week and will be in full swing this week with cutting. Good god the dust was HORRIBLE. I'm so glad I bought the Wolf Snout. It made a huge difference and I haven't cut the "thin" lawns yet. Thin lawns are less dense and have some areas where dirt is showing. Creates a huge dust cloud. I might spend the money and buy a GoPro cam and wear it while mowing just to show how dusty it gets.

You are over by I35, no?
We don't have any snow cover here...problem is the weekly forecast only has highs in the 40's and that isn't going to kickstart the lawns at all. Nor anything else green. Unless I get shrub trim jobs, won't have any work yet this week. Just run estimates and freeze while doing so. Cmon, WARMER temps!

Yes, junction of 14&35. Not sure what it looks like in town as I haven't been in a couple days due to having the flu. But when I did push snow at a couple town home complexes the was greener than a couple days before, when we had no snow. I have people grumbling why their pre emergent hasn't been put down by my sub. All I can think of is have you been around for the last few weeks. I'm still getting bid calls. Just got a reminder that one is due Wednesday or before.

My poor, aching back....

Got 9 of the expected 11 done. For some odd reason I didn't expect these new customers edges to be so dang overgrown. LOTS of extra work there.

Picked up a new Kombi 110 unit today. Asked about the new attachment (the re-definer). Glowing reviews. I'll be getting one of those shortly.

Did you look at the property to see what the scope of work was going to be? Did you charge extra to clean up the over grown edge? Did you wear a dust mask?
