contact last years customer who was laid off?

one of my best customers was laid off from his job and ended service last fall saying hed have to start doing it since he lost his job. ive wondering if i should contact him about service this year since he might be employed again. dont want to b insensitive about his work situation. how could i do this delicately?

write a brief letter. ask him if he would like service this year or any small jobs that you can do. he may be employed again. keep communication lines open.
