How many Solo operators take a full week off for Spring break....?

Maybe next Spring I always tell myself. I write up my snow contracts to end just before Spring break but I've never been able to go anywhere.

Maybe it's just me....?

How soon do you get snow after Fall cleanups? Perhaps that would be a better time for you to take off?

Spring break vacations were over when I got out of the school system. Last time I got vacation for a week, it was mid December of 2011 when I cut off the tip of my left thumb. That's no way to get vacation time either... This year, I'm taking a legitimate vacation later in the season when things aren't so hectic around here. Back to Maryland I go.

This is the reason I have the desire to not be a solo forever. No time for yourself and what if you break your ankle? That would be a blast cutting 45 yards a week with a broken ankle. Lol

No spring break but I have two vacactions planned this year. One family vacation July 6-13 to the OBX (mom's side of the family goes up there every year).

Then Sept 6-14th for our Honeymoon cruise.

It'll be crazy messing up the schedule but that's the downside of being solo. Luckily I'm only part time and only have 17 yards.

Last year, I hired a buddy of mine to come help me knock out all the yards the Friday before I left for my vacation. Then I played catch up on Sunday and Monday of the following week when I returned. We ended up getting all 17 done in 5 hours. I'll probably do that again this year.

My vacation days are behind me. I try to get up north as much as possible to do some fishing but that's it.

I'm leaving Friday for a week at the beach. Jamming it all in before I go. I let all my customers know a couple weeks ago. i'm also taking 6 days in June and a week over the 4th of July. You need to kick back once in awhile. I skipped vacations the 1st 30 years of my career, not any more.

I don't think I could enjoy a Spring break unless I had a trusted sidekick or personal assistant holding down the fort. We had a death in the family last month and that threw the brakes on many of my preps for the season.

I put most of my other desk job business to bed to do this and that has been a tough decision. $30 an hour with nominal over head.

I usually do a 4 day weekend later in the season.
