Soon to be full time

Well yesterday I bought out another landscape business. Not his accounts per say as there are none. He did hard scapes and some mowing. With that said, my plan was to be full time within two years from now. Came across this deal that I thought was to good to be true and basically now have no choice but to be full time within a few months. This deal included the following:

2005 Isuzu NPR HD with 12 foot box and 4 foot dovetail. 145,000 miles
1995 Chevy C3500 with 12 foot flat bed and metal 4 foot stake sides. 74,500 miles
Mixture of stihl and remax weed eaters. 6 total (mostly older though)
Red Max blowers, one is smaller the other five are large. (Again older)
A ExMark Metro 26 (could use wheels) over all in great shape.
Two ExMark 21" pushers. (Older) and one is parts pretty much.
One Toro pusher (needs work but runs)
One snapper with brigs motor pusher
Electric concrete mixer. (LARGE)
A large variety of hand tools pruners, chain saw, racks in box truck already with a shelf. I'm sure I am forgetting some stuff. I got a lot of things. Got a standard riding mower also that I will sale because its not for commercial use and I do not need it. I have a VERY NICE setup now to get me full time. Now I've got to get my customer base built up.

I said all this to ask this. When you full time did it scare you in the beginning knowing you had to get out there and really start getting work? Yes word out mouth is best advertisement and my customers are all from word of mouth. I've never advertised my business EVER because I had to much going just by he said she said. Now I've got to advertise. I got the knowledge and now equipment to do everything I enjoy doing in this field of work. Sure there will be jobs that suck but at the end of the day who has ever had a job that didn't? It's just business. Over the last month I have really made some huge decision. Sure I wanted to pay cash for this all but did not have this much to flip out and still feel confident in savings. So I have a loan on this stuff. Not a big loan by no means. I would be interested to see what some of you would in the blind estimate the value of the above listed items combined. The trucks are in good shape. The NPR is in GREAT shape actually.

I'm open to hear advice and I look forward to it. I know each business is different. I'm going to get my chemical license over the winter also, I do not plan of spraying yet but I want it and have to have so I can spray weed killer. I've been in business sene February of 2011.

Sound cool, give me a ring sometime.

I would try to get in real good with Crawfords Nursury, they likely could set you up with a lot of accounts. But all your materals there and get to know the people there. They sell top quality plants, and I would also buy your pine straw and mulch from them.

I used to advertise in the St. Clair times and got a couple of accounts per year from that.

If you work in Margaret they will harass you for a city license, so you will likely have to get one.
