i buy a new pair of kobalt non-rachets for every repair job. there only 17 bucks.

bring a roll of paper towels to clean the existing buried pipe off before cutting. cleaing will cause less scraping of the "cup side" of the cutter, adding a few more cuts to the life of the cutter with less friction while sliding/cutting.

i have a pair of victors, they were like 90 bucks, but i like lowes cheap sch 40 rachets more. I now have around 45 pairs of them, due to their cheap price.

BTW, be careful not to buy poly cutters which look just like 200 cutters, they have a slightly angled cup that will
