Fastrak blades do not line up

I planned on sharpening the blades on my 54" this past weekend. I already have the Hustler blade stop which works between 2 blades at a time. The issue is that the dealer aligned the blades in a way that they never line up to be able to use the stopper. Meaning when I have the end of one blade in the stop, I cannot turn the other blade without the stop moving as well.

Should I just use a block of wood this time, but when I reinstall align them so I can utilize the stop next time? I was not sure if blade orientation made a difference in cut and throw, I would think it may.

First cut was Saturday and she blew right thru the early Spring growth. Love this machine.

The Blades on your unit are not timed or positioned. Just turn them to use the stopper. Hold one Blade as you turn the other. be very careful doing this. The blades could snap back at you when turning. You could load up the idler pulley like a slingshot and the Blade could swing back at you. Even though your engine is turned off you are still playing with knives.
We had our first day of spring Sunday- Forgot what a warm sun feels like!

Thanks. It did not appear that I would be able to turn the blade without the others turning as well, guess I just needed to give it a little more muscle. Thanks for the heads up on the safety, sounds like extra care will be needed for this. For future safety, it sounds like lining the blades up to make future removal is in order.

If you loosen the idler pulley the blade will turn freely.
