I have used both. Currently I have used Online for the past 2+ years. I love it. It's great. I can access it from anywhere and the smartphone app is almost set up to be easier to use than on a computer. Sometimes I need info while out in the field. It just makes more sense for me to have it online.

At the start of 2012 we switched over to online from the disk version, like it very much and can access it easily.

one thing i wanted to add...when i strongly looked into this last year i realized that the online version lacks a lot of features that the desktop version has, and they were important features...not sure if that is still the case tho

I bought into the online version until I found out that I could not import my custom made invoice template that included a remitance stub. That was a deal killer...so we bought the latest version of the desktop version.

I couldn't stand the "generic" joe the plumber invoice look that quickbooks has. It matches the same invoice template that 90% of the other programs use. So I paid a decent amount for one that had a more professional look. Just my opinion, not knocking on anyone who uses it. It just didn't work for us...

Whenever they fix this I will get the online version.

Last time I checked these were my issues with the online version.- Cant send out customized word documents with the online version. It makes sending letters/agreements out to all your customers very easy. Online does not support this. And also cant use billing solutions (credit cards and invoice mailing service)

I stayed with desktop because of these issues

That's less money for them.

Just like their iPad app. You have to have the online version. I wanted to use the desktop version and sync it
