Check your voltage with the engine off then start it and see if you have more voltage with it running.

If the voltage is equal or less when running then when not running then it is not charging. Could be a wire, fuse, connection or the alt. If its under warranty still take it back. Actually this seems like its over your head so you may want to just take it in anyways.

Alright so today my Ferris had the same problem, drained the brand new battery completely to the point at which the engine wouldn't even keep running. So does anyone know if Ferris has alternator in it too? It also was a brand new battery this year so could just be a bad batt.

Do you have a meter, have you made any tests? Charge your battery and install the positive wire to battery, with meter check between neg terminal and wire is there current? If so you have a short to ground start looking for wire rubbed bare. I should mention key switch off for above test. If no current reconnect neg lead and start machine check output of charging system at battery must be 13 vols or better. Let us know how you make out.

Chinea,

You stated "with meter check between neg terminal and wire ". Which "wire" are you referring to?
Thanks,
JLM
