Seeding Bermuda on baseball field

Taking over a new high school program, and the grass turf was not well maintained. There is quite a bit of Bermuda, but it is mixed in with weeds and some other grasses.

I have printed out a plan for aerating, sanding, seeding, fertilizing, etc.

But here's my big question: will the Bermuda seed take over and force those other weeds and grasses out, or do I need to get all of that stuff out first?

Thanks for any tips.

Bermuda is pretty aggressive in spreading. In most cases getting rid or the weeds and fertilizing will thicken up bermuda.

I'm a 1000 miles away from you, but deal mostly with bermuda. Here's what I'd do.

1. Soil Test. Bermuda likes slightly acidic soil(High 5's, low 6's) and lots of Nitrogen.
2. Spray Selective Post-emergent. You must consider whether or not and when you'll be reseeding, when you choose your product. Dismiss is expensive, but safe for reseeding. I've never used it, but heard it is effective for such situations.
3. Aereate, adjust PH and fertilize according to soil test.
4. Reseed/overseed and topdress, if needed

Remember you'll probably have to deal with some crabgrass, since you won't have any pre-emergent down. I'm guessing the correct adjustments of PH and applications of N and sand will result in the bermuda rebounding nicely.
