Scag Freedom Z Engine Choice

I'm looking at a Freedom Z for next season, still a long ways off, but I was wondering about a few things. I've heard that Scag's are amazing, and people give them rave reviews.

I was looking at a 52 because it would be most effective for my area.

So there is the
  • 27hp Briggs and Stratton Cyclonic
  • 23hp Kawasaki FS691

So... which would you choose and why? Or would you go with a completely different mower (in the sub 7k range). I'm more looking for a Z turn, not a WB or SB.

You could do the new Ferris 700Z w/ Kawasaki23hp 52'' ICD deck. We sell them for $6300 and I think they retail for $6499. That should be around the price of the 52'' Freedom Z and you would upgrade quite a bit in performace and still have great quality like the scag

I just bought the 52" Freedom, other than there is not an anti-scalp wheel on the discharge side, I'm loving it. It has the 23hp Kawasaki FS691 and me my son found out inadvertently, this thing will pop a wheelie(with blades off). lol That was a big surprise.
Cuts great even in tall and wet grass and no clumping.

Oh yeah, this is my first "commercial" zt.

freedom z is not a commercial mower. it's more for residential use with a large yard.

you can tell by the engine choices.

not all kawi and briggs and straton engines are the same.

kawi fs series is not commercial grade. the fx series is.

briggs is not commercial grade but vanguard briggs is.
