How do you record and report a customer refund?

I use quickbooks online and it syncs with my bank transactions which makes recording and categorizing business expenses easy. I am showing the expense from when a check was cleared for a refund to a customer. Where would I categorize that so that it keeps my P/L reporting accurate.
