Glue

Well I went back about a year on threads and didn't see any thread on this.

Curious to what glue everyone uses?

I don't know many names of them because we only use two kinds.

We use 721 ( Dark blue) which has primer mixed in. I Hear tell this is the second strongest glue for pvc other then the gray glue. I have also been told ( Which I could be completely wrong) that they do not allow this glue in cali for environmental issues.

The funny thing is every irrigation store I go to ( JDL, Ewing, UPS, Berkey, HD fowler, and a few others ) I see 721 up front. But on every service job when I'm doing a pvc repair I see either primer/clear glue ( Or even just primer) or the light blue or some other kind. I can actually tell the repair we made if i'm digging up an area by the freakin color of the glue.

The other glue we use is clear glue only on low psi lateral valves with above ground pvc. This is my bosses choice.. Personally I think pvc piping above ground is the most tackiest thing for irrigation and if they have this they can deal with 721 glue on their fittings....

so What glue do you use and why?

Oatey red label for me, having discovered it by accident, while looking for a glue to use for both PVC and ABS. Reliable quick setup, but not so quick that I can't correct a mistake.
