Landscaping in the 80's and 1990's

A lot of the bigger companies around me started in the late 80's early 90's. In these years were people hiring landscapers more, thats why they were able to grow to what they are today. Or is it just them being in business for years, thats how they grew to a big company.

mostly them being in business for 15-20 years. I've heard numerous stories from many owners of companies that started in the 80's or early 90's of how they started and got to where they are today. they all involve time which is what it takes to grow bigger.

same way here. the big companies have been around since the late 80's.

they started solo mowing lawns when they were young.

they really aren't competition to me though. the only mowing they do is like the hospitals, schools, and big places like that. i'm solo so i have no interest or time to do those types of accounts. they also do alot of patios, hardscaping, landscaping, etc. which i don't do either since i'm solo.

I started in the 80's.
One truck, one trailer.
2013- one truck, one trailer and still service many of the exact same properties.
Cut an account yesterday that I've had since 84.

It's kinda strange in a way.

I've watched properties change hands, people move on, and kids go from swingsets to driving cars.

Congrats.

My company--started by my great-grandfather--has had customers for over 40 years.

Size may or may not have anything to do with length of time being in business. I'm small taters compared to some of the companies in GR. By design. I don't want to be huge. Or even medium. Small is fine. One or the biggest in GR started in the mid 90's and just grew like crazy.
