This is good advice, you will save yourself from a lot of headaches just sticking to Wordpress. When it comes to CMSes its easily the most user-friendly and its ready to go right out of the box.
PaperCutter also brings up another point. Don't be afraid to start small and DIY at first if you need to. There is always later.
But Wordpress is a solid foundation.
