A Pensacola man was burned in an explosion at his home near East Burgess Road on Sunday afternoon, Escambia County Emergency Medical Services said.

The 28-year-old man was spraying an unidentified chemical in his yard to kill ants when the chemical ignited for unknown reasons, Escambia Fire and Rescue said.

The man received serious burns in the explosion and was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital.

The State Fire Marshalís Office is investigating the cause of the explosion.

When i was a kid, we had a lot of Big-headed ant mounds in our yard. My friend and I would light pine cones on fire and place a couple inches from the exit hole. Then with mom's can of hairspray we would do "pest control" each time a large amount of ants would exit the hole.
Its a wonder the can didnt explode in our hands.
