got infected with lymes disease from a tick

I went to my family doctor with a fever that ranged from 101-104 for 4 days. he sent me to have blood work. Some "markers" were off and he asked to see me again the same day. I went back got examined again and had a fever of 103.3 so he had me admitted to the hospital. I was telling him I thought it was lymes from my symptoms, severe headache, body aches, fever and my job. I was in from Monday to thursday and had an infectious disease doctor diagnose me with a viral infection lol. I had 3-4 rash like spots some bulls eye in shape. He said it was the virus exiting my system. My doctor went with his diagnosis and sent me home with a lower fever. I had a follow up appointment with my doctor on monday. The rashes grew in size and amount. He said even though I had a fever of 100 it was most likely the heat lol. I went back this thursday With 15 rashes total. I brought pictures with me from the internet of people with lymes disease. The infectious disease doctor refused to see me so my doctor sent me to a dermatologist who finally diagnosed me correctly with lymes. I was suffering for over 2 weeks before I was given antibiotics. Amazing the poor doctors here, hospital care, etc. Be careful of them use deet.

Guess that's why doctors call it a "practice".
Hope you get well soon.

Sorry to hear about this. I'm surprised I havent been bite yet. I would suggest you hire a lawyer & sue for medical malpractice. That is the only way to hold Doctors accountable these days.

Very good info regarding ticks. A must read for those with pets, working outside, etc.

you may have caught it sooner which is a good thing. I am on 100mg of doxycycline. I had a fever between 101-104 for nearly 7 days straight and then around 100-101 for 8 more days.

Sorry to hear you guys are under the weather. Get well soon. I'm glad that we don't have as much trouble with that in Indiana as there is closer to the east coast...

This is good information. Thank you for sharing your case details. Each of us needs to be our own best advocate.

Something all of us in this industry should know is that antibiotics make us more vulnerable to severe sun burns and skin cancer (while we are taking them). Doctors and pharmacies often neglect to point that out.

I hope it helps at least one person from getting as sick as I am. The deer ticks that carry the disease are about the size of a poppy seed so they are very difficult to detect. If you have symptoms and no rash yet push your doctor to give you antibiotics. The sooner you get the antibiotics the less damage lymes does to you.
