ESP-SMT Sensor Wiring

Got a situation where I need to splice sensor wiring into a short section (< 20 feet) of multi-conductor control wire, using spare wires in the bundle. Ideally I would never consider or do this, but in this particular instance it is the only viable option. Personally I see no issues except for possible interference when valves are powered up. Has anyone has done this and/or know of any potential problems?

I believe they expect wires to be bundled in any event, so your case wouldn't be a problem. I've 'jammed' rain sensor and Hunter remote receptacle into the same cable, with no adverse results.

Do label every conductor at the controller. I failed to mark one wire to a SRR plug, and it wound up being moved to the 'correct' (for its color) location, which killed remote functionality until the wire was put back in the (im)proper place.

Works perfectly fine. Thought it even says so in the manual.

this has me wondering if home office technology would allow printing custom wire markers - I suppose any decent label would survive in a control box - not so much in a valve box

Less about the label maker, more about the label tape you use. I do have label tape that is exterior rated, however wrapping a #18 wire is rather pointless.

Well, a marker that indicated that the red wire belonged on the SRC's "white" terminal would have saved me a deal of time.
