Dealing with customer

First year trying out the lawn care business.

I'm not sure if anyone has a minimum height they will cut, but this guy wants his grass cut at 1.5inches, cant go over anything or the blades will will hit roots leaves for a ton of weedeating much more time, and then says he will call when it needs cutting again. He will call whenever, and then say if I can't make it within the next hour he might just have to find someone else to do it. I told him he might have to as I can't do it with in the next hour, called him back around 7 and squeezed him in last and he said sorry it was so late notice, but he does it everytime. There is also dog crap all over his backyard ran over 4 piles yesterday, really annoying cause it gets in my tires, and i'm not picking it up if im not being paid for it. Should i tell him im going to charge extra if it keeps being like that?

run for your life!!! don't worry about getting customers. you don't want customers. you want "good" customers or it's not even worth being in business. i've learned this. people start making demands i just walk away if they can't be reasonable about it.

drop. He doesn't respect you. Learn from it. If this happens with another customer, know what you will say to try to reel them in without being rude. I'm not sure if i'd recommend this, but when this comes up with a customer, I shake my head slightly from side to side, so they aren't totally surprised about what i tell them. You could also explain your situation, and what you WILL do for them, but "within the hour" is not an option.

This guy obviously thinks of you the same as the 12 year old down the street, so just let the 12 year old down the street cut his grass.
