Why would they care if you have a back up mower or not. It's YOUR responsibility to up hold your end of the deal and that's to cut grass. If you don't have a back up mower and you can't cut the grass you run a chance of someone just finding someone else. Iv never been asked this or has to worry about it. I'm OCD about my equipment so I make sure it's top notch 100% of the time. Yes, things come up and happen. ALWAYS have a alternate plan in case of failure.

I've never mentioned a single time to any customer in 20 plus years what kind of machinery I do or don't have. There's nothing to gain or lose by doing so.

A business decision to have a back up mowers is not a selling point at best.

At the worst is telling a customer that you have back up mowers is going to make many wonder and worry how bad is this guy's equipment that it must be breaking down all the time that he needs back up equipment.

This guy does not sound dependable. I want a dependable guy so I am not going to hire him.

If you're old enough to drive, then there's a good chance that nobody cares as long as their grass is cut.

If you're 12, then yes, I could see that being a good selling point.

I have that also.
I have enough equipment for two crews, but not enough lawns to use them.
I'm just part time for now.

Been asked a couple of times as I had taken over lawns from fly by nights. I always reply that my back-ups have back-upsback-up.
