Need Advice...Buying Another Truck!

Hey guys,

I in the market for another truck and have been looking at Fords, Chevys and GMC's. I want a diesel next so that is what I am going to get. Buying new is just not in the budget right now as I am graduating college in december and also trying to expand the company in lieu of graduating.

My question is about the ford. I have had my eye on a 2005 F250 Powerstroke. the dealer has had it since april and just had a large price drop about 5000. Truck has 88,... miles on it. I am a chevy man at heart but this seems like a good deal and I have toyed with trying a ford, never hurts to try new things, after all I could always go back.

soooo with my research I know I should get an Oasis report on the truck, I think I read ford dealers will do it free? I just wanted to get some input from some ford owners on how they have worked for you all and things I should look out for!! I know they had problems out of the 6.0 although they say it was in the early years, I know about the tty bolts but beyond that, what else. any help is really appreciated, Its my first truck purchase!

Thanks in advance guys, this will be my daily driver for work and running back and forth to school (1 hr away) and of course its getting a plow.

If you want a reliable diesel Ford find a 7.3 and nothing else.

Dually you know I looked at one, my problem was they are so high mileage and I plan on having the truck a while and if I ever wanted to, would like to have the option of trading it and having a little value, with the age I wasnt sure that be possible. Although I will probably keep this next truck and the next will be bought like this one and It will be given to the company

Im with dually. id avoid the 6.0 and get a 7.3. Way more reliable. When it comes to diesels you shouldnt be scared if it has 150,000 on it because with proper maintenance they will go to 300,000 easy.

I have both a 7.3 Ford and a Duramax, both have been great trucks. If you go Ford, I agree with above 7.3!

For that price, you can find a nice '06 Duramax, pre-emissions.

I've had 3 6.0 Ford's and I love them. Delete or bulletproof the EGR cooler, don't chip it and it'll work everyday for you. My daily has 148k miles on it, tow heavy with it daily and never had an issue. Great power, decent millage and you can't beat the price due to the bad rep they have.
