@rr-wa if I do get a dba then to accept checks I need to get a business checking account correct with all the fees along with it? Right now my name is Raymond all my flyers receipts ect say rays lawn care but I put all checks to be made to Raymond l****? Then deposit into my personal checking account which I will be paying taxes on with a 1040. Basically why do you recommend a dba just to look and sound more professional. Also I ended up getting insurance 300,000 500$ deductible for 350 a year for now.

You still don't need an ein for a sole proprietorship even if you have a dba. Just get the dba and a checking account in the name of rays lawn care and you're done

To the original poster:
Are you saying you are begging for permission to be under their 6+ million statutes and ordinances because you are not competent enough to keep all of your human labor? Or to do what you want to do without harming someone else?
If you are not capable of doing what you want to do without the help of state/gov/county/city, I personally advise you to sign on the dotted line with them. Your life will be so much easier.

Just left with second CPA he told me to get my dba then business account and not to get a ein until if and when I hire employees. He said keep it as simple as possible in the beginning. Also said to get a ira and as much liability insurance I can afford. Then out of no were said through the winter I should hang Christmas lights and decorations for extra income lol.

Just wanted to finish the thread. I ended up getting a dba, business checking account, insurance, and PayPal business for invoices and PayPal here. Thanks for the advice
