Stihl FS90. valve adjustment

I would like to do a valve adjustment on my FS 90. I bought the feeler gauge and found that adjusting each valve to the specified thickness did not work. I played with it and found an acceptable adjustment but is still not running its best. Any other ideas? Next stop will be the repair shop

Did you do it while the engine was cold? Did you do the decoking of the valves?

You mean the adjustment procedure they tell you is wrong???????
Or the problem wasn't the valve lash?
